This is the first reading for a new year – and what a year that’s awaiting all of us! 2018 brings an energy of unity, of co-operation, of people matters and relationships. To kick off this new year, for January’s reading we used the famous ‘Rider-Waite’ Tarot deck which, despite its age, remains one of the most effective Tarot decks available with its simple but powerful images painted by Pamela Colman Smith. This month’s photo was shot in our new Yurt, which came all the way from Mongolia and it is now installed on our property (thanks Yurta Italia). It will be used as a space to host circles and training as well as for guests. We think you are going to love it when you come and visit!

For the beginning of the month we pulled the ‘Six of Swords‘: the year begins with a Full Moon in Cancer on the night of January 1st (technically on January 2nd at 2:24 UTC), at least here in Europe. This is a perfect time for finally getting out of a difficult, emotionally heavy or stressful period: this means either leaving behind the whole 2017’s energy or just dusting off yourself the negativity you might have absorbed from some family member, friend or acquaintance during the reunions that, invariably, keep so many people busy during the Christmas period. It’s time to take a journey – a physical one or even just an inner journey into your soul’s desires – asking yourself “what have I been missing the most?” and let this take you to places and experiences where you can be relaxed and living fully in the present moment and you can get energized again (this could be a desert island for some people or just a good book to read in bed for others). In this period, on January 6th, we celebrate the three kings who came from far away lands to bring royal gifts to baby Jesus – a journey of faith to find the divine child who had chosen to be born in poverty. Likewise, focus on your heart’s vision and believe in it, even if it sounds crazy like following a comet. Seeing new places and/or experiencing new things will provide some fresh air for your brain and the clarity for seeing your long term plan properly. Things will gradually get smoother as Mercury (which went direct after December 22nd) will fully escape its retrograde shadow on January 10th.

For the central part of the month we pulled the ‘Two of Wands‘: your plans are starting to bear fruit or at least you will be getting some kind of recognition for your endeavors. Intentions are all-important now: what you think of and give energy to, you will create. There is no need to be afraid of this – it is the Law of Attraction – and you need to know that you are fully supported by the Universe; but you do need to continue to pay attention and steer your boat as appropriate, not hesitate. This is not a time for planning endlessly but for initiating some new action after an initial idea and keeping the ball rolling while it evolves. This is also no time to hide but to be loud, visible and proud of what you have been doing! The New Moon in Capricorn (the night of January 16th heading into the 17th) can be your stage and scenery for getting started with the next phase of your projects.

The card we drew for the last part of the month is a Major Arcana: ‘The High Priestess‘. This card’s energy invites us to retreat and find sanctuary in ourselves, in the stillness and quiet, to be able to listen to our inner voice, our conscience. We all have that voice but whether we listen to it or not makes a huge difference. Many choose to ignore that voice and cover it up in noise but it is only in real peace and calm that such deep connection with our divine source can be made and the inner voice listened to. Only stillness and in-activity can grant us access to the temple, to the sacred sanctuary of our hearts. This card teaches of a very feminine energy, one that knows how in-activity, patience and faith have a strong creative power and can be even more productive or fertile than action. Think of a pregnancy as a metaphor (how much transformation quietly happens in a womb!). While the Moon keeps growing your ideas will get clearer and insights will be revealed, taking us till the end of the month which features a second Full Moon (in Leo) on January 31st.
