This month’s photo was shot in our kitchen, with the cards finding support against pots of jam, jelly and chutney that Jyothi made here at the Sanctuary of Joy with the fruit from our own trees. They are de-li-ci-o-us.We talked about them in an earlier post.
This month we used the famous ‘Rider-Waite’ Tarot deck.
For the beginning of the month we pulled the ‘Queen of Pentacles‘: this Queen is Gaia, the Earth, the cycles and the rhythm of Nature. As this month starts, we have therefore a strong reminder that life itself is cyclical as it moves through different phases: at every cycle new situations clarify old insights and provide new ones, and our learning builds up. Cycle after cycle we grow and mature and we can start seeing and doing things differently. Change is ever occurring and never ending, as life goes on. In this first part of the month we’ll still be affected by Mercury Retrograde (which affected most of August), and this should be a reflective period to take account of where we stand, rather than beginning new things. Mercury will turn direct on September 5th but before it fully escapes its shadow we will still feel it affecting our lives. The Queen asks us to observe admire the apparent chaos of creation but also to stay quiet and to not fan the flames. The Full Moon in Pisces of September 6th augments this visionary and reflective mood even further.
For the central part of the month we pulled the ‘Page of Wands‘: this card speaks of enthusiasm, an initial spark of interest for a person or some project that make their entrance in your life. The central part of the month is therefore bringing a quickening of pace. Be careful, anyhow, as this energy can be (or can make you or others) manipulative! Make sure that you follow your higher purpose and don’t get affected or driven by haste and by selfish desires. This period also marks the last stretch of the Mercury retrograde phase, with Mercury escaping its shadow on the 19th. Even as this period is over, we’ll carry over the learning we’ve gained for months to come.
The card we drew for the last part of the month is the ‘Eight of Wands‘: action really starts now and life might take a very fast pace at this point. You might receive some sort of communication or message, in this last part of the month – it could be either something romantic or business related… what’s more important for you? Although the information will sound interesting (maybe even flattering or exciting), take time to listen well and to read in between the lines (or the un-spoken words) and make sure you don’t get carried over by initial enthusiasm too early and that this is not just an infatuation or a trap. Take care of yourself first.
