Oracle cards

Oracle cards for the weekend February 18th-19th 2017

We picked some cards for you! As usual, the interpretations you can read below are our own (not verbatim from the deck’s booklets).

Note: The photo was shot on a laurel (laurus) bush that is on our property. This is the plant that, in Greek mythology, was sacred to Apollo because of Daphne, the Nimph he fell in love with and that he tried to chase. The Nymph, anyhow, really wanted to remain unmarried and made a vow of chastity. As a result, she got turned into a Laurel tree – she got saved from being raped but this is a good reminder to be careful with what you wish for! Even after her transformation, Apollo still vowed to love her forever and saw that this was a good plant. This blessing was considered the reason why this is an ever green plant, whose leaves do not fall in autumn. The ancient priestesses of Apollo chewed laurel leaves and inhaled their fumes to get prophetic visions.
This is a herb that is widely used in a number of dishes – especially in Mediterranean cuisine – and it has magical qualities of protecting and purifying from negativity and evil spirits.

Here are the cards we picked:

A) “Passion” from the “Romance Angels Oracle cards” by Doreen Virtue is asking you to tap into your passion(s) in order to… re-ignite your passion! In other words, passion begins with you. What are you passionate about? Dive full-on in your favourite cause, project or hobby and be creative! When you spark with creativity you become naturally more appealing to new – or existing – partners who may either share the same interest or even just enjoy seeing you shining brightly and will be attracted to your fire.

B) “Smudging Ceremony” from the “Native Spirit Oracle cards” by Denise Linn is a perfect card for today’s photo! Smudging is the practice of burning herbs to symbolically ‘wash’ a space and cast away negativity from it. While the card does’t specifically suggest you use Bay Laurel for your smudging ceremony – it is more often done with Sage, Rosemary and other herbs or even incense – pulling this card certainly made us think of those Apollo priestesses we mentioned earlier (we had planned to use the laurel as a ‘background’ setting for today’s card reading before we actually picked the cards)!

C) “Easy does it” from the “Magical messages from the fairies Oracle cards” by Doreen Virtue suggests you let go of the need to control everything to its tiniest detail or to force something to happen! Let go and trust that you can let events flow naturally where they need to go without you spending all that effort to steer them! Sometimes just sitting back and relaxing, possibly in nature, is the best way to notice how quickly the things that you desire actually will start happening – as soon as you detach a little bit from the need to watch them so closely.

D) “Amplify your positive emotions” from the “Nature’s whispers Oracle cards” by Angela Hartfield and Josephine Wall is a reminder that what we think of grows. So if you make the effort to deliberately choose positive thoughts, express gratitude and have a generally positive attitude, life will respond – in return – positively and in your favor. Your actions and thoughts, like ripples in the water, begin and end cycles in your life, and at each cycle you are continuously growing and changing. As you emit and express positivity rather than negativity, these positive ripples will generate more positivity and they will eventually bring you what you wish for.

We hope this reading was useful and inspirational for you – let us know!

Have a blessed day,
Jyothi & Daniele
