This month we used the famous ‘Rider-Waite’ Tarot deck.
For the beginning of the month we pulled the Two of Swords (Air). [Note: we also drew this card in a previous post you can read here] This card speaks of choice that must be made, to move forward and not being stuck, by digging in one’s subconscious (the sea of emotions behind the woman) and using both ‘weapons’ of intellect and heart – only then the choice will be balanced. With the month starting with a new moon in Libra (while Jupiter is also transiting thru Libra), the theme of a choice between opposite forces and choosing what’s right and true for our hearts – not what society or fear tells us – will be a general, ongoing theme. Time for pondering was September, with its Mercury retrograde, but in October Mars in Capricorn will keep the pace quick for the whole month and the mental energy will be strong, so even in-action is going to be interpreted as a choice of sort.
For the central part of the month we have pulled the card ‘Death‘ (one of the ‘Major Arcana’). This should not be seen as scary – it’s not typically about physical death – but more about killing our ego, our wordly attachments and un-necessary desires, and about letting go of what no longer serves us. From closing off chapters and clearing up space (even physically in our environment), we gain space for the new to enter. October 15th will have a Full Moon in Aries: be careful about how you use that fire energy to change things for the better, not to destroy them out of rage. Compassion and patience should be used in relationships, as with the lingering effect of Venus in Scorpio (started September 23rd and until October 18th) things might heat up either way.
The card we drew for the last part of the month is the Seven of Swords (Air). The figure on the card is the smart Loki from the Viking pantheon, running away from a military camp, with some weapons he has stolen. Just like him, you might have been stuck in some situation (this is typically more related to a job or a place you spend lot of time) that has made you grow and taught you something in the past, but you might feel it is not the way you should continue your personal soul journey. You can take with you what you have learned, and venture elsewhere. The month begins with a new moon in Libra, and ends with another new moon in Libra: this is not an invitation to run away from somewhere or something out of fear – but once again, to follow your heart.
