We pulled a few Oracle cards this morning.
The first card, Aphrodite, from Doreen Virtue‘s ‘Goddess Guidance’ oracle cards, is an invite to discover our inner goddess. Whether you are a man or a woman, you have a feminine side: the side that cares, that loves, that can be tender, that is in touch with his or her emotions, that feels life and flows in it.
If you push yourself too hard and remain stuck into the mind, you forget what it really means to be alive and be part of life.
Take care of yourself, allow yourself space for creative self-expression, look at how awesome you are and all that you are capable of!
The second card, also from Doreen Virtue, is from her ‘Cherub Angel cards for children’. As easy as it might sound, taking it easy is not something we get trained to do. The emphasis in our society and education is often on competition, drive, and pushing ourselves very hard – until eventually we burn out or ruin our lives and relationships.
Nevertheless, it is by slow and persistent work that great things are accomplished. Every painting is just a collection of many brush strokes, each of which would be insignificant on its own.
Whatever it is that you are doing, do it one step at the time. Be in the present moment and in the task at hand, keep your vision and dream awake in your mind’s eye, but do not worry to have all the steps figured out to get there. Just put one foot in front of the other, and before you know it, you’ll be there.
The third card, pulled from Doreen Virtue’s other deck of ‘Life Purpose oracle cards’, is for me in this context a suggestion to embrace life-long learning. You will never know everything, but all that we come to this planet for is to learn. Economic interests would rather have everybody just going to college, being pumped full of theory, get a stamp of ‘expert’ in field X or Y and then go to work and just do that thing over and over, never questioning whether it makes sense or not, like an ant, for about 40-50 years or more.
Luckily, human beings are capable of much more than that. We can study and learn pretty much anything we set out minds and hearts into, and it is never too late to periodically re-evaluate the accuracy, integrity and ‘freshness’ of what we have studied and have been told during our early years. Our education systems largely tends to turn us into dogmatic assholes who try to win arguments, rather than brave men and women who think with their hearts and find reasonable compromises. Learning – especially learning about emotional intelligence, our nature as human beings, what we are here for – is something that will inevitably accompany us for our whole life and will keep us young while we turn wise, if we approach any new day as an opportunity to understand more about ourselves, other people, our relationships, and the world.
Namaste,
