Mary Magdalene (celebrated as a saint on July 22) traveled with Jesus as one of his followers. She has witnessed Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. Some say she was married to Jesus and they even had kids. But Mary Magdalene was also given the reputation during the middle ages of being a repentant prostitute or loose woman.
Whatever the ‘real’ story, she was given a second chance in Life, and many times the most loyal and the most faithful disciples are those who have been given second chances. The greater the forgiveness, the greater the love.
And whatever you do, there will always be someone who doesn’t agree or judges you and calls you names.
Mary Magdalene also reminds you to stand your ground. This doens’t mean ‘be stubborn’ but rather ‘don’t slip in fear’!
Fear pulls at you and gets your mind running in the wildest directions that you have learned from what you have learned as a child and what society, media and toxic people costantly bombard you and try to influence you with. We can fail and break things or situations when we react immediately, we get carried away by our fears or by our anger, we jump to quick conclusions and we act on those.
But “stand your ground” is a call to reflect, to discern, to view things from multiple points of views, to pause.
‘In Fearful Times, Call on God’, Mary Magdalene said.
Call on God – or on the angels or your ancestors or the universal energy, meditate, play music, walk in Nature – do whatever makes you mind stop spinning so fast, re-group, feel with your heart what’s right and true and good and what action would come from a place of Love, not Fear – and intentionally focus on that instead. You’ll see the world more clear and you’ll be able to focus on your strengths.
And to conclude today’s inspiration, a quote from another holy and motherly figure from India, Sri Sarada Devi: “It is a complex always to be suspecting impurities. The more you emphasize your obsession, the more obsessed you become. It is true of all things. He who has a pure mind sees everything pure.”
